Upon arriving late at Hostal Los Lagos Inn, I was warmly welcomed and efficiently checked in for a one-night stay. The 5-bed dorm room was basic but comfortable, with a clean bathroom and hot water. The included breakfast of bread, beans, eggs, and fruit was a nice touch, as was the unlimited coffee and filtered water available. The location near the airport was extremely convenient, just a short walk away, and the gated neighborhood felt safe, especially with the 24-hour guard present.The owners' offer to pick me up from the airport, although unnecessary due to the proximity, was a thoughtful gesture that set a positive tone for my stay. The cash-only policy upon arrival was easily managed, and the free shuttle service would have been handy for early flights, although walking to the airport was quick and manageable. The proximity to local eateries and amenities, like a bakery and cheap restaurant, added to the convenience of the location.Hostal Los Lagos Inn served its purpose as a comfortable and practical stopover close to the airport. The easy access to transportation options, including shared taxis and Uber rides to the city, made getting around simple. The safe and gated community, along with the friendly staff and free WiFi, ensured a pleasant and hassle-free stay. Whether for a short layover or as a base for exploring Guatemala, this guest house offers a cozy and welcoming environment for travelers.
